Top Tips For Looking After Your Skin In Your 30s And Beyond

In your 20s you could get away with removing make-up with a face wipe the morning after and still look good. But now you’re in your 30s, those late nights, family demands and poor choice of skin products will catch up with you.

That is why it is so important to nail down a good skincare routine, as this will get your skin glowing and looking its best as you head into your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

Don’t forget to use moisturising cream, which keeps the face hydrated and full of vitality. It is important to rub the cream down the neck, as this is often an area women forget about.

When it comes to cleansing your face in the evening, use a cleansing lotion to remove make-up or dirt from your skin.

Celebrity aesthetician Renee Rouleau told Byrdie readers: “Be very meticulous about cleaning a day’s worth of make-up, dirt and bacteria from your skin, so you’ll get the best results from serums and moisturisers applied afterward.”

Eye cream is also important once you hit 30, as the skin around the eye is prone to wrinkles from squinting and laughing. Apply it to the orbital bone around the top of the eye.

Before bed, apply night cream as this keeps the skin moisturised while you sleep.

And last but not least, make sure you eat a varied diet centred around vegetables and fruit for the natural antioxidants, keep well hydrated throughout the day and aim to get at least 8 hours sleep every night.

A lot of the lotions that give you a youthful glow are pumped with chemicals, but they don’t have to be. There is a wide range of natural face creams, which keep your skin fresh and healthy-looking while also being animal and environmentally-friendly.
