Tips For Male Skin Care

It is not just females who have to take care of their skin, as men need a good skincare regime if they want to stay looking young and healthy. But some guys don’t know where to start when it comes to looking after their face.

So, let’s keep it simple with the most basic, but effective, skincare routine that will be suitable for the majority of men.

Wash regularly

Whenever you get in the shower, make a point of washing your face. Use a mild cleanser with lukewarm water to remove impurities and surface oil.

It is also wise to give your face a wash after exercising, as sweat can clog your pores. This can cause pimples, as well as encourage the growth of acne-causing bacteria.

That is why some guys might find they often have spots around their headbands or hats, as the heat, combined with sweat, means their skin is unable to breathe and acne forms.

Moisturise every day

After washing and cleansing, make sure you moisturise your face every day. This will keep your face hydrated and prevent dry, itchy or flaky skin.

Dehydrated skin can also be ageing, as well as look dull and lifeless.

The American Academy of Dermatology Association explains: “Moisturiser works by trapping water in your skin, which can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and make your skin look brighter and younger.”

Use moisturiser on your skin while it is still damp to keep as much moisture in as possible, and those who have particularly dry skin can use a night-time cream as well.

Wear sunscreen

If spending long stretches of time outdoors it is a good idea to choose a moisturiser with an SPF of 30 or higher, as this will protect skin against the sun. If the cream does not have sunscreen in, make sure you use protection whenever you head outdoors .

Don’t forget the tops of your ears, neck, lips and even scalp if you are thinning on top, as these areas are particularly vulnerable to being burnt.

What’s more, it is important to re-apply after a couple of hours or if you go in the pool, as this will ensure you remain protected.

Shaving serum

Guys who shave should take extra care of their skin as using a blade on the face every morning can cause damage over time. As well as nicks, regular shaving can also cause razor bumps and other skin irritations.

That is why skin-soothing products or an antioxidant serum that reduces damage to the skin are useful, as they relieve and repair damage caused by taking to your face with a razor daily.

It is also sensible to wet the skin and hair before shaving, shave in the direction of hair growth, rinse after each swipe, and regularly change blades, as these tips will help reduce skin irritation.

Guys can enjoy a smooth, soothing shave by using plant based men’s natural skincare instead of harsh chemicals. These are less likely to cause breakouts or skin reactions, as they contain naturally derived ingredients, such as aloe vera, plant oils and essential oils.
