How To Make The Most Of Skin Products
Most people who take good care of their skin slather on as many products as possible to help them turn the clock back.
However, there is a knack to having a good skincare routine, which doesn’t just involve using high-quality products.
For instance, it is important to leave the right amount of time between applying different creams and serums.
According to dermatologist Dr Emma Craythorne, although the optimum amount of time is not known, it is wise to wait until one product has had time to soak in first.
“This ensures that all of the ingredients are evenly spread,” she told Women’s Health Magazine.
However, this can depend on the ingredients and type of skin, as dry skin will absorb it faster than well-moisturised skin.
Water-based products are also likely to be absorbed faster than oil-based ones, which is why it is worth applying these before the heavier ones.
It is also important not to put too many products on the skin, as this can undo all their good work.
Instead, Dr Craythorne recommends finding a serum that has all active ingredients in one bottle as they have been designed to go together.
Ladies who are also concerned about the environment should look for products that are cruelty-free, as well as good for the skin.
These creams typically have a short ingredient list, using only naturally-occurring items, such as shea butter, rosehip seed oil, and aspen bark extract.
